These fragments are assembled from writings that took place over a number of years. In most instances they were not included within the writing projects, but occurred beside them, as reflections on the practice of writing itself. So, an essay composed of process reflections, marginal notes and out-takes. The practice that these writings discuss, is diversely referred to as performative writing, event-text, event-writing and impossible writing. There is no attempt to erase this incoherence in categorisation and nomination since formal insecurity and ontological instability are important dynamics of the writing practice invoked.
Writing of the Event is published in A Performance Cosmology, Eds. Richard Gough, Daniel Watt, Judie Christie, Routledge, 2006, ISBN 0 415 372 585.
